Territorial Acknowledgement

As someone born and raised in Calgary, traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina, it is important that I recognize and pay tribute to the traditional territories of the people of Treaty 7 in the spirit of truth, reconciliation, and reciprocity. The people of Treaty 7 includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Pikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, the Bearspaw, and the Goodstoney First Nations). I also recognize the Métis people who call this land home.
